He is passionate about improving not only oral health but also overall quality of life through personalized care, communication, and trust. Dr. Overfelt is dedicated to helping patients feel informed and confident throughout every step of their treatment journey.
Originally from Central Florida, Dr. Overfelt earned his Bachelor of Science in Community Health from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville. During his undergraduate career, he dedicated time to patient care at Brooks Rehabilitation, where he discovered his passion for helping others improve their health and well-being. He later pursued his dental education at the University of Florida, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (D.M.D.) degree. While in dental school, Dr. Overfelt was recognized for his commitment to ethical patient care and received the Ethics Award. He was also actively involved in outreach clinics that provided dental care to underserved communities and helped pilot an elementary school program focused on teaching children the importance of oral health.
Following dental school, Dr. Overfelt completed his specialty training in Periodontology at Texas A&M University in Dallas, Texas, where he also earned a Master of Science degree in Oral Biology. During residency, he conducted research focused on identifying potential causes of peri-implantitis in an effort to improve treatment outcomes and advance patient care.
Dr. Overfelt received the prestigious Quintessence Award in Periodontics for excellence during his training and has participated in multiple research initiatives aimed at advancing the field of Periodontology. He is trained in the latest periodontal treatment methodologies and technologies and provides comprehensive periodontal and dental implant care tailored to each patient’s individual needs.
Committed to continuing education and professional development, Dr. Overfelt is an active member of the American Academy of Periodontology and the American Dental Association.
Outside the office, Dr. Overfelt enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs, Charlie and Louise. A true Floridian at heart, he enjoys outdoor activities, hiking, traveling, and discovering great BBQ spots on the weekends.
